Donation Rebates

IRD has recently updated irFile to enable you to upload your eligible donation receipts and make it easier for you to claim a tax credit. You will not have to file an annual IR526 Tax Credit Claim Form because IRD will already hold the information they need.

To upload your donation receipts, you will firstly need to register for a myIR account with IRD. You can then upload copies of donation receipts in form of electronic receipts, photos or scans. At year-end IRD will automatically calculate the credit and pay it into your bank account, they, say, within three weeks.

To be eligible, donation receipts must include:

- donor’s name (your name)

- the amount they donated

- the date they donate

- a clear statement that it was a donation

- the organisation’s name

- IRD number

- organisation's official stamp or letterhead

- organisation's charity number
